Top Skincare Tips
Skincare has always been a passion of mine. I could always remember spending a ton of time in the beauty aisle in Kmart when I was a young teenager and today spending most of my time researching and buying products online.
I thankfully have been blessed with great skin (big shout out to my Asian genes) but that doesn’t mean that skincare should be less of a priority – It’s always important to think about maintaining it for the long haul. Below are five of my top skincare products/tools that I simply cannot live without:
1. Sunscreen is Your Friend
Though many of us enjoy our time in the sun, we all know that incidental sun exposure can contribute to an increased risk of skin cancer as well as to increased wrinkles and premature skin aging. Most people don’t think they need sunscreen if they’re just outside for five minutes or on cloudy days but did you know that 80 percent of the sun’s rays penetrate through the clouds (even in the winter)?
That’s why it’s so important for all of us to apply SPF (even if it’s in your moisturiser or as a separate sunscreen) first thing in the morning so your skin starts off with protection. My favourite go-to sunscreen is Nivea’s Sun ‘Protect and Moisture’ SPF 30 – It’s light enough and does a great job in protecting my skin throughout the day, however, if you’re in the water, it’s important to always re-apply.
Cost: AUD $10.39 for 200ml | I need this!
2. Dry Body Brush is Cool
Sunday evenings are my beauty ritual days and dry brushing is always a part of this ritual. I’d typically dry brush my body from the top down in a circular motion before hopping in the shower. Not only does dry brushing make me and my skin feel good, it has plenty of other benefits too!
Dry brushing is great to stimulate lymph flow within the body and helps the body detoxify itself naturally. The lymphatic system is a major part of the body’s immune system and is made up of organs and lymph nodes, ducts, and vessels that transport lymph throughout the body.
It is also said that dry brushing helps loosen and removes dead skin cells, naturally exfoliating the skin. You will notice that your skin will be less dry and becomes much softer after dry brushing.
When picking a dry brush, it’s important to pick a firm and natural bristle brush. My favourite is the Manicare Dry Body Brush.

3. Nothin’ But a Facial Brush
At the end of the day after wiping my makeup off with some micellar water, I like to cleanse my face with the Foreo go Face Cleansing and Anti Aging Massager. Its soft silicone touch points and pulsations remove 99.5 percent of dirt and oil and lifts away any makeup residue and dead skin cells that typically lead to clogged pores.
After introducing the facial brush into my daily skincare routine, I’ve noticed that my complexion is clearer and my skin feels a whole lot smoother. What I love about this facial cleanser is that it’s also compact enough to take with me throughout all of my travels – It’s small and compact but it’s super effective!
Cost: AUD $149 | I need this!
4. Mist It Up
After cleansing and before applying some moisturiser, I like to mist my face with the Skin Inc Pure Serum Mist. Not only does it soothe redness and irritation but it instantly hydrates and strengthens the skin.
The Mist is infused with low-molecular weight hyaluronic acid and is designed for deep absorption and reduces sensitivity (even for blemish-prone skin).
Cost: AUD $110 for 100ml | I need this!
5. Get Your Mask On
At least once a week (most likely on a Sunday), I apply my all-time favourite mask…Dr.Jart+ Mask Micro Jet Clearing Solution mask. This mask is specifically chosen based on my skin type and what needs to be done to control my blemishes and uneven skin tone.
This silky, hydrating microfiber sheet mask addresses trouble-prone complexions by soothing redness and inflamed skin (from acne and preventing pigmentation). The thin material of the mask gently clings to the skin for even and consistent absorption of active ingredients. You will notice that upon applying the mask, that the mask is wet and sloppy, however, after 15-20 minutes have passed, you can feel that the mask has dried off and that’s because all of its active ingredients has been soaked into your skin.
Glytathione (a potent antioxidant) visibly evens out skin tone and helps brighten and improve the apperance of dark spots and discolouration. A trio of essential ingredients including salicylic acid, tea tree oil, and niacinamide control excess oil and breakouts for a clear, luminous skin (YAS!).
Cost: AUD $43 for 5 sheets or $9 for 1 sheet | I need this!
Well, there you have it! My favourite skincare products/tools that I swear by for healthier skin. I hope you love them as much as I do. Until next time…x
